Designing for Impact in Sustainability

Work

During my internship at SustainLab, I contributed to the development of their SaaS Sustainability Management platform. My primary focus was the CSRD module on the platform, where I worked on improving user flows and integrating feedback from the tech and CX teams. I also took an active role in bridging gaps between design and development by interviewing developers to understand challenges and enhance collaboration.

My key contributions:

  • Worked on the CSRD module to refine user flows and improve the overall design experience- making complex sustainability data more accessible for users

  • Participated in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as the designated design team rep for the CSRD module, ensuring that design solutions met the needs of end users

  • Conducted interviews with the development team to identify pain points and optimise cross-team communications

  • Reorganised the project file structure to enhance clarity and workflow efficiency

  • Contributed to the MVP design of the “Organization” feature, integrating organizational data into the core platform to streamline processes and enhance user experience.

Learnings

This fast-paced internship honed my problem-solving and collaboration skills, deepened my understanding of sustainability metrics, and enhanced my ability to align design systems with technical constraints.

While I cannot share the designs directly due to confidentiality, I encourage you to request a free demo on the SustainLab website to see the platform and experience the design first hand. :)
